Description
The Audit Manager is responsible for planning and managing engagement teams to successfully ensure client accounting projects are completed on schedule, within scope/budget and within the firm's quality standards.
Key responsibilities include client relationship management, engagement management, team leadership, meeting efficiency goals, mentoring team members and contributing to firm development and marketing activities.
Requirements
Educational and experience requirements include:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Licensed CPA or other comparable designation
Minimum four years of experience as a Staff and Senior Accountant or related position
Proven ability to plan and lead teams on client accounting projects
Proven experience to ensure compliance procedures are followed throughout the organization
Strong ability to think critically and problem solve
Proven track record of maintaining continuing education and staying current with regulatory changes
Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities
Engagement Management
Ensures accuracy of all client accounting projects according to firm quality standards; reviews Staff & Senior Accountant work for accuracy
Develops the scope of each project; accurately plans projects tasks and timelines to meet the due dates for all deliverables on multiple projects at the same time
Displays strong project management skills to consistently ensure engagements are completed within scope and budget
Client Relationship Management
Builds strong, long-term client relationships with senior leadership and owners at the firm's clients
Proactively manages project updates, keeping the client and team up-to-date on project status and any potential issues
Effectively communicates complex accounting issues with clients and consistently makes the best decisions on behalf of clients
Client Service Hours Goals
Achieves goals for annual chargeable hours, % realization, and new/expanded client services for a Manager at the firm
Team Leadership
Consistently reads feedback and follows up with relevant training, mentoring, encouragement and accountability for individuals on their team
Completes reviews on schedule for each team member; reviews are accurate, consistent and effectively communicate employee standing within the organization
Firm Development
Develops the skills of their team members by delegating challenging assignments for each individual and includes Staff and Senior Accountants in client meetings
Actively involved with leadership roles in the community/ industry and participates in firm marketing activities
Identifies and qualifies prospects for the firm and demonstrates success in converting prospects to clients of the firm
Strategy & Planning
Assists Partners in estimating, developing proposals and selecting a pricing strategy for engagements
Ensures all project documentation is up-to-date and teams are accurately using firm technology to monitor progress, track time and invoice clients
Participates in the firm's strategic planning and actively takes a role in leading projects that contribute to the firm's goals
