Description

The Senior Accountant - Audit is responsible for performing accounting assignments for the firm's clients either independently or under the supervision of Partners or Managers.

Key responsibilities include client relationship management, engagement management, performing accurate client accounting work, displaying strong technical skills, meeting professional development goals, meeting efficiency goals and assisting with firm development, recruiting activities and team leadership.


Requirements

Educational and experience requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and experience in an accounting role, preferably public accounting

  • Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail

  • Integrity in all work product

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of client information

  • Strong time management, critical thinking and communication skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills

  • Completion of CPA or significant progress in the certification process is desired


Key Responsibilities

Engagement Management

  • Ensures accuracy of all client accounting projects according to firm quality standards

  • Understands the scope of each project; can accurately plan projects tasks and timelines to meet the due dates for all deliverables

  • Continuously builds accounting knowledge and skills to work independently, more efficiently or assist with advanced assignments

Client Relationship Management

  • Begins developing relationships with clients while achieving their specific performance expectations on accounting projects

  • Effectively addresses basic client requests/ questions and documents all relevant decision making information for the team on more advanced requests

  • Proactively communicates progress, updates or information requests with clients and other team members

Client Service Hours Goals

  • Achieves goals for annual chargeable hours, % realization for a Staff Accountant at the firm

Professional skills

  • Displays knowledge of all products and services offered by the Firm and begins to develop knowledge of the proposal and estimating process

  • Understands firm accounting and project management tools; accurately uses firm technology to complete projects, track time

  • Completes all professional development requirements and begins to gain exposure to additional specialty areas

Firm Development & Recruiting

  • Builds leadership skills by acting as a role model for current staff and new members to the team

  • Assists with firm recruiting efforts, interviews, onboarding and training of new Staff Accountants

  • Seeks opportunities to attend meetings with firm clients and prospects and assist with firm marketing activities
